Time To Say Goodbye

Just finished devouring a good book..at least I felt it's good. The title's Time To Say Goodbye by Judith Gould. This story revolves around true love, friendship & betrayal.

A brief summary of the story I got from the abstract of the book: Joanna, a woman with a world to die for-glorious Californian lifestyle, a gorgeous, loving husband~Josh. A thriving family business growing orchids and a beautiful home that exudes luxurious tranquility. She had the time & money to enjoy life to the fullest. But behind all the sunshine & serenity lurks something unsure & unsettling. Joanna's scheming sister is in the passionate pull of Josh & Joanna's arch rival, a man who'd do anything to undermine their business. April, hired by Joanna to complete the grotto work in record time, cannot help but be attracted to Josh. And Joanna herself is behaving bizarrely, disappearing without explanation and refusing to be drawn on her activities. She's carrying the secret that she has a brain tumour. She is dying. And more than anything, she wants her husband to be happy after she has gone. And whilst Josh is understandably suspicious of her actions, he is to learn that though Joanna may not have long to live, her love for him is undying...

A very touching story I must say. And it's the first time I'm reading a book by Judith Gould. Very powerful & vivid descriptions of the settings, scenery, expressions, emotions, the inner struggles of the individual characters and errhhm...bedroom scenes. I really thought the indepth descriptions of the bedroom scenes didn't really help in the progress of the story, so it was kind of unnecessary. Perhaps the author wanted to add some 'spice' into her story. But other than that, the book's perfectly fine. It was able to captivate it's readers through the twists & turns in the storyline:)

Joanna's benevolence is one character I'd really wish to possess. I think that's the kind of true love that's lacking in many relationships I've seen. Being able to let go in exchange for your partner's happiness...I think humans always have this selfishness in them that prevents them from doing so. The loyalty between Joanna & April, even that between Josh & Joanna...people'll always hold them in admiration & envy. Forgiveness, is also one of the lessons learnt, that I haven't fully mastered in life. And the whole setting of the story~so fairytale-like. Maybe I'd go search for other titles by Judith Gould, seems like a real good author there:)

Just an update: after today...it'll be another 4 working days for me!!! Wheee! I'm not in the mood to work:p
