Phew! Just handed in my first draft for FYP yesterday and just completed my Human Resource & Management's final assignment today. Terribly stressed! Left with presentation and report for Product Development & Management and assignment for Heat Transfer. Well well..hope to finish up real soon cos I've only a pathetic 3 weeks to exams!!! *Gasp, all I need is more time!*
I've always written my blog entries with a title. Don't feel like giving one to this entry today. When did I last do something like that..doing it just because I feel like doing it? Not that I can recall. I'm suddenly thinking...how it'll feel like if I just take any SBS bus that i feel like hopping onto; not bothering where its destination is, where it'll bring me to or bring me through, how long will the journey last. When was the last time I did something without having to think what the consequences are? When was your last time doing so? Feel like telling him/her that "hey, I just don't like you. Can you stop wasting your time and my time? Go and find someone else that's more suitable for you"...without having to feel guilty pangs knocking at you, screaming, "hey, you've just hurt someone."?? I've always been trained to do what I'm suppose to do, what's politically right that sometimes, I no longer know how I feel. I ask myself, "Hey, what do I like to do as a career?" *Silence...there was no answer.* Growing up means becoming numb on your senses.
The stereotype of females is that they are irrational & primarily driven by their emotions. Well, if that's how they define women, then maybe I'm an alien, an exception from my fellow sisterhood. I've always been a super rational person..I don't know why either. I've always done better in Mathematics and Science rather than languages. Maybe I've too much testosterone in me huh? Haha. I've got to think for so long before I can decide to buy a piece of clothing that I fancy while girls out there can just pick up something that cost a bomb but because they fancy it, they buy it right away. I've always not bothered to spend money on stuff which I find pretty but useless because I know it's going to be a white elephant. I'm not known for following my heart. My brain often overules my heart somehow after a struggle. In secondary school, if I had followed my heart and not bothered about the ambiguity of the subject because there's no right or wrong, I might have taken art instead of geography and english literature. If I had followed my heart when choosing a course in University and not bothered about having to fork out money to further my studies or having to worry if I'll even get to major in psychology, I may have opted for NUS's Arts & Social Science instead of the current Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering that I'm taking. If I had followed my heart and not considered the repercussions, I would have walked up years ago and say I like you. Well, I didn't do all that. Sometimes I wished I had a tinge of irrationalism in me...to give me the courage to follow my heart at times.

=) u're not alone. Many special girls out there think and behave with similar rationality as you do. Alien? That only further shows that you are a unique individual. Why bother about those who find happiness in spending? I believe you have your own way of being happy. Spending is theirs, what's yours?
Hahah, frankly speaking, i hardly get the same kind of 'high' by having frequent shopping spree(which is becoming zero nowadays as i find it more n more boring and a waste of time). I guessed i do understand the kind of feelin and rational behind many of my close frens regarding shopping(i shant not flood ur blog by giving more details).
Being rational is a valuable asset to possess. Often, getting rule by ur heart DO make you do things u never tot u will. BUT, at the end of the day, how the person wished so much that he/she can be more rational and save him/herself as well as the pple involve or the situation from the after-effects of it. Haha..gota admit, as a ruled-by-heart-person myself who has became a 70%-rational person now, how i wished i was rational from the start. Perhaps would have save me from alot of -ve emotions and keep some of the friends i've lost along the way.
Hopping on the a bus n dropping whereever you feel like? COME ON!!!LETS JUST DO JUST THAT AFTER the bloody exams!!!LAST CHANCE to make full use of the bus concession!!!
Regarding saying how we feel with the risk of hurting someone's feeling..well, guess there are still certain boundaries we have to keep to and really depends on how much you value the r/ship btw people. We ourselves dont like(or at least myself) people to say things like "HEY, CAN U GO AWAY? I DONT LIKE YOU AT ALL!!!". I believe i would never ever wana make friends again.
Poor us. Now i think of it, i wonder who is the mastermind of all these happenings. Who created everything? (ok, lets not get into the issue of religion -_-|||). Just a egg first or chicken first?
If only we dont have so many issues to deal with and just our OWN state of mind and how we feel that matters, many of us would have really followed where our heart leads. Pehaps with enough resources and more time, many of us wouldnt be sighing about a path we COULD have taken right from the start. Or perhaps, after going thru where our heart brings us at first, we realised at the end of the day, its not actually what we wanted.(oh well..*shrug*
Suddenly got a voice in my head tell me this while i was tking: "You are the victim of your own thoughts". (you as in mi,ah ru, not mh..haha)
"WHO WAS THAT?!?!?" okie, think i go and find this voice out for a tan2 pan4 with it! JIAYOU!!! =) oOOssh!!

hey ah ru:) Guess the examples I gave are all spending related. *LOL* Well, I'm rational to even thinking before eating something. Hohoho -faintz- Maybe it's things that stay with me since young, the upbringing, things that happen at home and peer influence? I can't help but grow to be a super rational person. Well, I won't say it's a bad thing to be rational..I'm glad I'm a rational person as well. Juz that sometimes irrationalism can maybe bring me to take on a path I may never imagine myself taking:)
Yes..hi 5!! I agree totally that rationality saved myself and other from the consequences which might have followed if I went with my heart. I myself don't like people to say, "Hey I don't like you..GO AWAY!" kind (though you can say that's being frank..I think it's how one put it across ba), that's why I think for anyone, it's natural to put yourself into the other party's shoes to think how the other party feels. Will the friendship or relationship be hurt or even gone with the wind. Just like times when I think my project mate is not making sense or I can't tolerate certain make-do-with-it attitude..I can't bring myself to just tell the person off(which sometimes my heart just wants to scream out). I'll always end up doing what my brain says, "Hey, negotiate with him/her, talk nicely & make the person understand." Guess it's sometimes when you consider other people's feelings too much..it gets tiring and you gradually forget that "hey, your own feelings are important and should be given priority at times too."
Staying rational may be a protective mechanism for myself..as what sunbear analysed. True..protect myself..protect others as well:)
Hahaha, I'm a victim of my thoughts as well! =p
Yeah man! after the horrendous final round of exams and after the terrible FYP presentation and submission..I shall catch sunbear and ah ru...*if you gals wanna go bus ride..oops but i get dizzy with too long bus rides, haha, heck!*..and others who wanna hop on, and go for a ride! Excursion!! Wheee! Let the wee bit of irrationalism in me display! Hahaha:p
