Time to go home!

3rd night in Tulsa, Oklahoma. No frights no scares this time. Glad:) Please stay this way till I’m home. *Pray* 2 days in Tulsa, a place equivalent to the physical size of Singapore but with less than a quarter of the 4 million population in Singapore. Been to the headquarters and met up with many people there…people whom I’ve conversed through email before…mostly new people whom I don’t know since I’m rather new. Learnt a thing or two about the procedures over the other side of the world so as to have a better idea of why certain things are done back home in Singapore. Time well spent…but time seems to be crawling. So sloooww…I yearn to be home once again.

Spent my weekends over at Las Vegas. A big city with lots of lights and never sleeps. I really mean never sleeps. The streets are lit 24 hours 7 days a week. Every hotel has to have a casino…it’s a must for them I bet. 2 short days in Vegas and it was really an experience for me. The night before I checked out of the hotel, I was happily watching tv and packing up my luggage till 3am plus when some unknown ang moh came to knock on my door. 3am in the morning!!! Gosh…I thought it’s my colleague whose room is right beside mine. Fortunately I checked through the peep hole and realized it’s some unknown freak. He looked like some scrawny ang moh ah beng with ear holes, lip holes and a cigarette in a hand. Yucks! Obviously I don’t know him! And I thought he’ll go away after knocking for some time. Apparently not. He started banging real hard on my room door and yelling vulgarities and stuff like… “I know you’re in there, I can hear you.” … “Open up the f**king door or I’ll kill you!” and kept repeating my room number! He must be some lunatic or drunkard! I was god damn terrified and there was no number to give a direct call to the security! Like what the hell…it took me 3 calls and 1 transfer for me to reach the security! And that freak is banging so hard on my door and kicking it I thought it’s going to burst open anytime. Call me timid or hum ji, but it was the first time I was trembling so hard with fear and my voice shaky!! I just couldn’t help it. Frantic and lost at that very moment though I kept reminding myself to calm down, breathe and think straight. Well, after a while, the knocking and banging stopped for a while…and I thought the security had done something. Nope, just minutes after it stopped…the same freak came back again. Banging and kicking and yelling even harder and louder than before. My heart almost stopped. Literally stopped. Afraid that he may break the door open…I was so desperate I pushed the big chair to the door hoping it will help at least a bit? Then I dialed for the security again. They said they sent someone to walk the floor and no one was in sight. I guess through my trembling voice, he probably believed it wasn’t some prank and assured me he’ll send one up right away. It was only after like 3 calls to the security before they got him. Geez…can you imagine if it was a life and death situation, I could have been dead by then, going by the efficiency of their security. That night was really a fright night! Worse than those orientation ones cos this is for real! Probably it could be a rather common thing in Vegas since the environment and places are filled with casinos and sleazy places. And the security probably thought I was over reacting…*shrug* Anyway, that night I couldn’t bear staying in my room all alone. I was afraid he could be back armed this time round…*well, you’ll never know cos guns are so cheap and readily accessible in the States* My colleague was nice enough to put me up for the night and helped me to shift all my stuff over. I couldn’t stop trembling the whole night till I fell asleep hours later. Could imagine the worse if I had gone to the States alone. Terrible experience! Now I’ve got a real phobia staying all alone in hotels. Big cities aren’t that wonderful after all.

Ok, freak incident aside…had a rather good shopping spree at Vegas’s factory outlet whereby designer goods like Burberry, Guess, Coach, Polo Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic…even brands like Roxy, Billabong, Reebok etcetra…are going for cheap prices! Still considered rather expensive for me but they’re definitely much cheaper than in Singapore. Had a great time shopping…got nice stuff for my family but yet to find suitable items for friends. Hmpf! If only we had a few more hours to shop there. *Grin*

Well, now in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Seems like a rather peaceful little town. Nothing much to see and get, except for some cowboy stuff perhaps?? Haha! Tomorrow’ the last day of work in Tulsa! Woohoo! Will find some time to pop by the larger shopping mall to do some last minute shopping=) Leaving Tulsa on Thursday afternoon…whee~I can’t wait to be home once again! Never felt so insecure and mood dampening in previous trips before. Probably because of the series of events…spoilt all my mood.

May be surrounded by a million people…I still feel all alone…I wanna go home.” ~ Home, Michael Buble
